NUSWhispers – Confession #47204

To #47179, I think it's safe to assume you are a foreigner. That's normal though, I have a friend who was offered Cambridge for Electrical Engineering, with a full ride but was rejected by NUS, NTU and SUTD. Singaporean universities, unlike foreign universities, have a social responsibility to fulfill - educating the local population, hence the limited quota for foreigners. If I may comment on the university admissions, I find it unnecessarily flexible and somewhat (for the lack of a better word) retarded. They favour certain qualifications over the others, even if some of the admitted students under their favoured qualifications are clearly of a lower calibre. Hence, please don't take your rejection from NUS as a sign that you are not as good compared to the other applicants. Don't be disheartened though! An offer from Stanford is especially hard for foreign students. All the best! =)
